Gefechtsbericht A: At 0234 today, while close inshore covering the mine laying operation K.N. 6 in the Baie de la Seine, M.T.Bs. 246 and 247 fired four torpedoes at two enemy T.L.Cs. south of St. Marcouf Light. Three explosions were seen but the results were not observed [1]. ->
May 19th/20th: M.T.Bs. 249 (S.O.) 251, 246, and 247 sailed to carry out operation K.N. 6. At 2314 the force was informed that T.L.C. patrols had been sighted near laying position and were told to use an optional alternative position for the lay if necessary. The covering force, M.T.B. 246 and 247 were ordered by the S.O. of the unit to proceed to original position of lay to search for the patrol and M.T.Bs. 249 and 251 then proceeded to carry out K.N. 6 at 0206. Separate report is being signalled. At 0234 M.T.B.s 246 and 247 sighted two T.L.Cs. in 49°25.2'N, 01°08.3'W and attacked, 4 torpedoes being fired. One explosion was observed on one target and two on the other, but the results of the hits were not observed and the identification of target is considered doubtful. A third T.L.C. was sighted while unit was disengaging and was avoided. Own forces suffered no casualties or damage.
