| Gefechtsbericht A: | Minelaying plans for OPERATION NEPTUNE (= Normandy landing) were identified as Operation MAPLE and required minefields in Portsmouth Command to protect naval forces during the assault on the French coast. Mines were to be laid by aircraft and ships with a significant contribution from Coastal Forces. The 14th MTB Flotilla based at Portsmouth began a new series of minelaying operations ("KN") in the Cherbourg and Le Havre approaches (SCALLOPS and GREENGAGE areas), to supplement those by aircraft. At the same time minelaying in Plymouth, Dover and Nore Commands by coastal craft against enemy coastal traffic was intensified. Last lay "KN 25" off Cherbourg was carried out on 3. June 1944.[1]. -> Apr.19th: M.T.B’s 249, 250, 256 successfully carried out operation K.N. without incident.[2] |

Auf Grund der Wetterlage wird Fehlortung angenommen. Heeresküstenbatterien haben einige Salven Störungsfeuer auf geortete Ziele vor Kap de la Heve gefeuert. - Abends wurden Flakbattr. , Signalstelle und Fumo bei Fecamp angegriffen. Die angerichteten Schäden sind durchweg tragbar. [3] |
