| Gefechtsbericht A: | Deutsche Schnellboote greifen in großer Zahl und in vielen kleinen Gruppen die britischen Geleitzüge an. 609 und 610 versenken das erste S-Boot bei Tonne 57F. MGB 603 und 607 schießen 2 Boote in Brand, 607 rammt und versenkt ein weiteres S-Boot. Gefechte endeten 04h45. -- 32 German S-Boats attacking Convoy FN.1160 off Cromer. The Convoy is escorted by the destroyers Pytchley, Worcester, Eglinton, Campbell and Mackay, MGB 609, MGB 610, MGB 607, MGB 603, MGB 315, MGB 327, ML 250 and ML 517. At 23h18 HMS Pytchley has a Radar contact on E Boats to the north and damages one [S ??] with gunfire. The S Boats arrive astern of the convoy and sink Adm.trawler HMS William Stephen, a straggler from the convoy. HMS Mackay rams and sinks [S 63]. MGB 603 and MGB 607 hit on the boats of the 4. S-Flotilla on the return leg and sink S 88 which was standing by the damaged S 63. MGB 603 recovers nineteen survivors from S 88. MGB 607 rams an S Boat and is subsequently taken in tow by MGB 603. At 04h00 MGB 603 with MGB 607 in tow obtains a Radar contact and the tow is slipped. At 04h18 MGB 603 goes into action against six S Boats at a range of under 800 yards significantly damaging one boat. At 04h45 The S Boats make off to the east and MGB 603 rejoins MGB 607 [2]. |

| Gefechtsbericht B: | Torpedoeinatz der 4. S-Flottille aus Hoofden gegen brit. Nordgeleit FN.1160. Gefecht mit 6 Zerstörern und zahlreichen MGBs [4] - Um 02u08 wurde S 88 in AN 8159 l.u. von MGB angegriffen und sank um 02u28 durch Explosion eigener Torpedos. Flo-Chef und Kommandant fielen. Von S 88 retteten die Briten 19 Mann [3]. - Beim Angriff auf das Geleit erhielt S 63 Artillerietreffer, blieb aber fahrfähig, danach Gefecht mit MGB, wobei S 63 gerammt und daraufhin selbstversenkt wurde. Von S 63 wurden 24 Überlebende auf S 110 und S 117 übernommen. S 110 erhielt mehrere Artillerietreffer [4]. |
