| Gefechtsbericht A: | At 2311/18th German E-Boats were plotted by Ventnor in 212° St. Catherines Point 25 miles steering North West. The Portland Patrol, consisting of M.T.Bs 721 and 702 were vectored to intercept. One Group of E-Boats closed the Convoy route 4 miles South of Anvil Point and began to steer East, possibly minelaying. Eight minutes later at 0020 the enemy turned South and was almost immediately intercepted by M.T.B's 721 and 702 who met 3 E-Boats on an opposite course, turned and engaged on a parallel course , claiming several hits . S -Boats scattered and retired to the Southward apparently in some disorder.[1] |
