| Gefechtsbericht A: | Boote der 23rd MTB griffen eine feindl. Patrouille an. MTB 98 (...) feuerte Torpedos aus 300 Yards ohne zu treffen. Zwei eigene Offiziere wurden verwundet.[1] -> During night of 10/11th Unit G.O.3 carried out sweep in Channel Islands area. Force split into two divisions N. of Guernsey and proceeded towards position 212 Cap de la Hague 12. Fog then closed down, reducing visibility 50 to 100 yards. North of Little Russel Channel, a trawler was encountered by second division who fired star shell but was almost immediately lost in fog. 2nd Div. lost touch with each other and with 1st Div. while endeavouring to get into position attack. Later M.T.B. 98 who was then alone, obtained Radar contact, and sighted four ships in Great Russel Channel. M.T.B. 98 fired both torpedoes at 300 yard and was engaged simultaneously by enemy with gunfire; she was holed in many places and C.O. and First Lt. both wounded, not seriously. Result of his attack not known. Enemy appeared to be large trawlers or possibly M class M/S. M.T.B. 98 returned safely, also remainder of force who had seen nothing.[2]. |
