| Gefechtsbericht A: | At 0530 today M.T.Bs. 724 and 787 of unit G.W. torpedoed and probably sank one trawler about 1 mile north of Belle Isle [1]. - Zwei Boote der 64th MTB versenkten einen bewaffneten Trawler [2]. -> Aug. 17th: M.T.B. 724, 787 have returned to harbour and report as follows: 1. At 0230/16 M.T.B. 724, 728, 787 were chasing radar echo W. of Isle de Groix when a mine exploded close to 728 in 47°43'N, 03°44'W causing some damage. She was forced to return to Plymouth escorted by 742 and both boats arrived 1730/16 no casualties . 2. At 0530/16 unit G.W.2 (M.T.B. 724 and 787) obtained contact when sighted one trawler or small M/V on an easterly course, N.W. of Isle de Groix. They fired torpedoes, but observed no hit . Shortly after another trawler was sighted and engaged with gunfire , several explosions being seen on board her. Touch was lost and subsequently patches of oil found.[1] |
