| Gefechtsbericht A: | Fregatte erfasste Konvoi aus Le Havre und sandte eine Einheit der 14th, die mit 6er Fächer einen Trawler versenkte [1]. -- Convoy of armed vessels attacked by HMS Seymour with MTB 257, 256, 254, 252, later again by other MTB groups [2]. -- At 11.15 pm the first convoy appeared south of Cap d'Antifer. It was coming north from Le Havre and four MTB's under command of Lt. Shaw went in to intercept. There were 8 ships in convoy which put up sharp and prolonged resistance, but Sharp managed to get in and fire torpedoes. One trawler blew up and the MTB's withdrew having suffered two minor casualities and no damage [3]. -> At 2313 H.M.S. SEYMOUR had plotted one convoy steering about 020 degs. in 216 Cap D’Antifer 7,2 miles and Unit G.B.5 (M.T.Bs. 252, 254, 256, 257) were ordered to attack. At 0100, after observing 4 E-Boats passing by, unit G.B.5 attacked the convoy with a zone of 6 torpedoes at 1000 yards in 010° Cap D'Antifer 3 miles and a heavy explosion resulted. One trawler is considered sunk. Gunfire from convoy at possibly 8 vessels was extremely heavy and prolonged.[5] |
