| Gefechtsbericht A: | E-Boats continued their activity, but with little heart. Two groups left the Hook and were shadowed by our aircraft until they closed, one group N.F.8 buoy, and the other N.F.6. The former was met by TORRINGTON’s M.T.B.s and the latter by SEYMOUR's. In both cases the enemy turned away at once and withdrew, our boats scoring hits before they disengaged. -> (1) One group o f 6 E -Boats steered 180° towards N .F .8 Buoy. M .T.B s. 695 and 726 vectored by TORRINGTON (Patrol 16) intercepted 3 miles north of Channel - enemy refused action and retired at once under smoke - hits possibly scored by M.T.B.s. -> (2) Other group of 4 or 5 boats steering 180° towards N .F .6 were closely engaged for 10 minutes by M.T.B.s 454 , 481 and 478 vectored by SEYMOUR (Patrol 12 ). Enemy turned at once while still 3 miles from Channel. M.T.B.s ob served hits with 6 pdr. and Oerlikon . One ratings lightly wounded in M.T.B. 45 . In t his action enemy opened fire first and used rocket illuminants .[1] |
