| Gefechtsbericht A: | Eight E-Boats which split into several small groups last night attacked the North Foreland-Schelde Channel. They were engaged by our forces on patrol, and were driven off, one being damaged. M.T.B. 797 had three casualties and damage to one engine. Mining is suspected.[1] -- MTB 797 und 746 beschädigten 2 Schnellboote erheblich, trugen selber leichte Schäden und Personalausfälle davon [2] - At 0051 were 4 E-Boats detected in position 338° Ostend 17 miles, steering S.S.E. at 35 knots. F.G.3 (3 M.T.B.) vectored to north and EKINS steered south-west from H.K.1 to intercept. F.G.3 engaged at 0100, encounter being short and fierce with range closing 20 yards. E-Boats made smoke and drew away to south-east and were then engaged by EKINS. E-Boats altered to west at 0103 and retired north at 0105. No further engagement and contact lost in position 350° Ostend 21 miles.[3] |
