| Gefechtsbericht A: | Coastal forces last night carried out two attacks with torpedoes on an enemy convoy of 5 or 6 ships with one large escort, off Monte Grosso, between Genoa and Spezia. In the first attack 3 explosions were seen in the convoy and in the second one ship was probably hit.[2] - Eine Peniche [? barge]) begleitet von einem TA-Boot. Torpedoangriff per Radar aus großer Distanz, doch 378 (Lt. Ilett) und ein PT verfehlten ihr Ziel. -- Off Point Mesco they found a barge convoy escorted by one of the German Torpedo Boats (small destroyer), which could heavily outgun the attackers if they were sighted. So Blomfield decided to attack at longer range than ususal, using a radar plot. All the torpedoes fired by 378 and on of the PT's failed to secure a hit, and a subsequent closer attack also proved inconclusive [1] |
