| Gefechtsbericht A: | Angriff der MGBs (LtCdr. Bligh, Lt. Robinson) mit MTB 634 (Lt. Blount) auf Schoner (verdächtigt als Q-ship) mit Artillerie. Ziel treibt vor die Küste und wird von 634 torpediert. 662 übernimmt Gefangene [2]. -- MGB 660, MGB 662 and MTB 634 depart Komiza for a patrol north of Zara. They pass through the Maknare Channel at 17 kts close Vir Island and then spend four hours stopped and lying in wait. At 01h55 a ship is sighted and the MGBs close to intercept identifying the target as a two masted schooner [Tritone of 390 tons]. At 02h11 MGB 660 and MGB 662 with MTB 634 open fire. MGB 660 closes to destroy the schooner by gunfire but is not successful. MGB 660 stands clear whilst MTB 634 fires a torpedo at 0224 destroying the schooner. MTB 662 closes to search for survivors and recovers two German marines from a dinghy.[3] |
