| Gefechtsbericht A: | Coastal craft fought 2 separate actions night 9th April. In the 2nd attack [Gulf of Quarnero] 4 craft on patrol fought fierce action with 4 F-Lighters 2 of our craft were put out of action by direct hits remainder continued to engage but being outgunned and out-numbered withdrew to reasonable distance. Enemy sustained some damage. Casualties were 4 killed and 13 wounded. One M.T.B. badly damaged and towed to Ancona other damage was superficial.[1]. - Vier Dog Boats werden bei dem Versuch, für ihren Angriff eine küstenseitige Gefechtsposition zu erreichen, entdeckt und können 6 deutschen Torpedos nur knapp ausweichen. Im Artl.-Gefecht erzielen die MTBs nur 2 Treffer; doch 638 wird durch Volltreffer im Bug schwer beschädigt und muss abgeschleppt werden, auf 662 fallen 3 Mann, und 5 Mann werden verwundet.[2] -> MTB 633, MTB 634, MTB 638 with MGB 662 are on patrol off the Arsa Channel. Four Flak Lighters are detected by Radar at 8000 yards and MTBs attack from inshore with torpedoes which miss. The Flak Lighters engage with 88mm and 20mm guns. MTB 633 and MTB 638 are hit and stopped. In MTB 633, the Commanding Officer is severely wounded and the Coxswain is killed. MGB 662 and MTB 634 close and engage with gunfire. MGB 662 is hit by three 88mm rounds. Three men are killed and five men are severely wounded. The Flak Lighters reach the entrance to the channel. MTBs 633, 634 and MGB 662 close MTB 638 to render assistance. The foredeck is under water but MTB 634 takes MTB 638 in tow, stern first, to Ancona [3] |
