| Gefechtsbericht A: | 7/8.Sept. In anticipation of an enemy shipping movement eastwards to Boulogne M.T.B. 219 (S.O.) 221 - 48 and 25 with M.G.B.s 329 (S.O.) and 322 were despatched to wait at Bassurelle Bank from 2330. A lighted Dan buoy was laid to mark the gap between Q.Z.X.771 and 786. Albacore aircraft of 841 Squadron partly under control of Swingate C.H.L. carried out R/C westwards towards Havre. The first aircraft reported one escorted enemy vessel on easterly course north of Dieppe at 2240 and M.T.B. Force was ordered to the Berck buoy. The second aircraft again located the enemy vessel approaching Berck buoy and at 0230 which M.T.Bs reported as their intended time of attack the aircraft dropped a line of flame floats across enemy's course in accordance with plan. Aircraft could see no more in the gun fire which then developed. M.T.Ba 25 and 48 each fired two torpedoes. M.T.B. 221 fired one and also dropped a depth charge ahead of an escort vessel but with unobserved results. No definite torpedo hits are claimed. M.G.B.s engaged escort from astern scoring many hits on two vessels and silencing the fire of one. Opposition was fairly heavy but inaccurate. M.T.B.219 (S.O.) could not sight a torpedo target and it seems doubtful whether more than a coasting vessel was present. Only M.T.B 25 suffered a little damage and had two slight casualties. Individual craft had difficulty in locating Gap between Q.Z.X. 771 and 786 on their return and last one did not reach harbour until 0800 [5]. |

| Gefechtsbericht B: | 0347 Uhr wurde Geleit bei Etaples von feindl. S-Booten angegriffen, die auf Lauer gelegen hatten. 5 Torpedolaufbahnen wurden ausmanövriert. Trotz mehr als einstündiger Gefechtsberührung erlitten eigene Einheiten keine ernsthaften Schäden oder Ausfälle [1]. - Von dem Gefecht des Geleits bei Etaples in der Nacht zum 8/9. wird wahrscheinliche Vernichtung eines feindl. S-Bootes und Beschädigung mehrerer anderer nachgemeldet. Bei 8 Anläufen des Gegners wurden 5 Torpedos ausmanövriert [2]. - - Geleit M 3820 mit V 1501 für D. Cambronne und Hubbastone) auf dem Weg von Le Havre nach Boulogne meldete ab 03u39 18sm SW Boulogne (bei Punkt 236) Fliegerangriff mit Leuchtgranaten und Gefecht mit 4 MTB, 1 MGB und 2 anderen Fahrzeugen. 5 Torpedolaufbahnen, 2 Detonationen in der Nähe (vermutl. Bombenabwürfe). 1 Feindboot wahrscheinlich vernichtet. Gefechtsskizze gibt 5 Angriffe an. Gefechtsdauer bis 05u00 [3]. |
