| Gefechtsbericht A: | 10 R-Boats were engaged by FORESTER, STAYNER and 3 M.T.B.s between Cap d'Antifer and Fecamp. Shore batteries opened fire and scored 1 hit on FORESTER. Considerable damage to enemy was observed at the cost of slight damage. -> At 0035 6 R-Boats were plotted in 237° Cap d'Antifer 8 miles by STAYNER. Enemy's course and speed was 020 degs. speed 12 knots and FORESTER, proceeding from the north to support STAYNER, was vectored by the latter to intercept this group. At 01h10 FORESTER made contact with the enemy in 340 degs. Cap d'Antifer 2 miles and engaged four times between 01h11 and 02h22. After the first engagement the R-Boats scattered close inshore under cover of minefields and were engaged while attempting to re-assemble. Hits were scored and the enemy retired to the north-east, three being badly damaged. FORESTER sustained superficial damage from one hit, casualties 3 fatal, 3 serious and 7 slight.[1] |
