Four small vessels from five miles west of Dunkirk at 2335, westbound at ten knots, and two small vessels from six miles west of Dunkirk at 2335 westbound at five knots, were heavily attacked with bombs and machine-gun fire by Whirlwinds of 137 Squadron under Swingate ground control.
Pilots report seeing twelve to fifteen vessels and claim one seriously damaged and probably sunk, three vessels seriously damaged.and four slightly damaged.
Plot remained stationary from 2345, time of the first attack until 0200 when they proceeded eastward and faded off Gravelines.[8]

Der Angriff wurde von der Whirlwind P.7048 (F/O DeHoux) durchgeführt. Das Flugzeug griff mit 20-mm-Kanonen an, warf aus 15 Metern Höhe zwei 113-kg-Bomben auf einen der beiden Minensucher mit acht Lastkähnen ab und beobachtete eine Flammenexplosion im Zentrum des Ziels.[9]
