Lfd. Nr.: 1005

Seegebiet: Westraum
Datum / Zeit: 11./12.10.1940 23h35
Ort des Gefechts: vor Calais
Verbandsführer (S.O.): Lt. Cole
Angreifer: 4th MTB 22 31 32
Gefechtsbericht A: M.T.B's 22, 31 and 32 arrived Dover at 0110/12 with 34 survivors of two German trawlers,
which they had torpedoed in 51° 02' N,, 1° 48' E at about 2335/11. Trawlers probably
employed sweeping and also as rescue ships from airmen as the survivors include Air Force personnel. M.T.B.’s were probably mistaken for E- boats as only one round was fired by trawlers and that only after first vessel was torpedoed. Request no announcement be made in press of the sinking of these trawlers so that their loss may be attributed by Germans to the minefield in vicinity and so as not to betray the presence of M.T.B’s [5] ->
