| Gefechtsbericht A: | Geleit „Memelland“ wurde von den MTBs angegriffen. MTB 201 im Artillerie-Duell versenkt. Die 5 MGBs warfen vorauseilend Minen vor Hafeneinfahrt Calais; sie wurden dabei entdeckt. MGB 46 wurde laut Reynolds von V 1806 beschädigt. -- MTB 201, 203 and 229 are directed to intercept a large German tanker that intelligence believes will transit the Straits of Dover eastwards from Boulogne. 2nd MGB with MGB 6, 13, 41, 46, Polish S-3 lay mines ahead of the convoy but are engaged by escorts and shore batteries. MGB 46 is seriously damaged by gunfire from Vp1806. The ChMtrMch is killed and the fume filled engine room is temporarily abandoned. Engine room staff manage to get one engine running and the boat returns to Dover. // At 02h00 MTB 201, 203 and 229 begin their attack and encounter very heavy gunfire. MTB 201 gets close enough to launch one torpedo and is hit by gunfire on the bridge. The Commanding Officer, First Lieutenant, Coxswain, Telegraphist and Bridge Messenger are all wounded. The Signalman is killed. One engine has been damaged and there are casualties in the engine room. SLt I D Moore takes the wheel. MTB 201 launches the second torpedo. MTB 203 launches both torpedoes. MTB 201 comes to a stop and continues to be engaged by two armed trawlers. The crew abandons MT 201 which does not sink and is reboarded later after the trawlers leave the area. MTB 201 gets underway using the auxillary engine and heads for base. Three crew members have died, two are seriously wounded and only two are unwounded. MTB 201 is rapidly making water. At 07h45 two RAF Air Sea Rescue Launches rendezvous with MTB 201. One takes off the seriously wounded whilst the other takes MTB 201 in tow. At 08h48 MTB 201 capsizes and sinks. |

| Gefechtsbericht B: | In der Nacht zum 15.6. soll der beschädigte Versorungstanker Memelland mit 5 Schleppern von Boulogne nach Dünkirchen geschleppt werde. Der Geleitschutz wird von 8 Vorpostenbooten und 13 Räumbooten übernommen. V 1813/ Thorn läuft mit dem Chef der 18 V-Flottille als Geleitführer dem Konvoi voraus. Die Royal Navy attackiert das Geleit mit 3 MTB (Lt. Cotton) und 5 MGB (Lt. Richards). Die MGB werfen Minen vor der Hafeneinfahrt Calais; sie werden dabei entdeckt und von V 1501, V 1509 und V 1512 angegriffen. Die MTB nutzen die Ablenkung für einen Angriff auf den Tanker. Schlepper Cherbourgois V geht verloren. Es kommt zu einem heftigen Artillerieduell. MTB 201 (Lt. Cotton) wird von V1507 und V1505 versenkt. Die Memelland erreicht am Morgen des 15.6. Dünkirchen [3] -- Vor Calais - Gravelines wurde Geleit T. "Memelland 0130-0205 dreimal von fdl. S-Booten angegriffen, Schlepper "Cherbourgois V" ist Infolge Torpedotreffers gesunken. Eingesetzte Boote der 15., 18, VP- und 2. R-Fl. erhielten leichte Beschädigungen und Personalausfälle. Mit Versenkung von 2 Feindbooten und Beschädigung weiterer durch 15. VP-Fl. ist nach Bericht von Gr.West mit Sicherheit zu rechnen [2] -- 2. R.-Fltl. mit R 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88 are part of the escort for a convoy comprising the tanker Mamelland and five tugs. Also in the escort are V 1501, 1505, 1507, 1509, 1512, 1514, and V 1802, 1805, 1806, 1813 [4] |
