| Ereignis : | - 07.10.1943 06h00 Gun action stations. Position was now 36°49'N, 26°16'E. Opened fire on the rear Siebel ferry. The second round hit and after two more hits, shifted target to the next Siebel ferry which was hit twice. The first target was now on fire. The gun then malfunctioned. After it was cleared one round was fired at the larger merchant vessel. It hit. Fire was then shifted to a Siebel ferry coming out of the smoke. Hit it at least twice. The merchant then also came out of the smoke and fire was re-opened on this ship. It was hit eight times. It was then seen to be stopped and being abandoned. Altered course to the east to set off in chase of the remainder of the convoy. During the chase they opened fire on Unruly and therefore the chase was abandoned at 0635 hours. [12] |
