Ein Abbruch Feindfahrt, denn am 28.12.1943 nahm 34 Überlebenden aus dem Torpedoboot 'T 25', die schon am Tage zuvor von britischen Kreuzern in der Biskaya versenkt und kehrte nach Brest nach 9 Tagen auf See. Ein Feindfahrt ohne Rückkehr 'U 505' operierte im Mittelatlantik, vor Freetown, 81 Seetage. Keine Schiffe versenkt oder beschädigt. (Commander. Oblt.z.S. Harald Lange takes command of U 505 from the temporary commander Oblt.z.S. Paul Meyer. One aborted war patrol, because on 28.12.1943 picked up 34 survivors from the Torpedoboot T 25 which had been sunk the day before by British cruisers in the Bay of Biscay and returned to Brest after 9 days at sea. A patrol with no return 'U 505' operated in the mid-Atlantic, off Freetown, 81 days at sea. No ships sunk or damaged.)

04.06.1944Geretteter verletzter und genommener Gefangener mit 57 überlebenden des 'U 505' im Mittelatlantik nordwestlich von Dakar, in Position 21°30´ N x 19°20´ W. Amerikanischer Kriegschutz. Kriegsverwahrung und hielt sich auf der US-Marinebasis in Bermuda auf. Gefangenschaft entlassen im 05.1946. (Rescued wounded and taken prisoner with 57 survivors of the U 505 in the Atlantic, North-West of Dakar, 21°30´ N x 19°20´ W, the boat was captured after depth charged and bombed by Wildcat aircraft of the VC-8 Sqdn. USN operating from the US escort carrier USS Guadalcanal CVE 60, destroyer escorts USS Chatelain DE 149, USS Flaherty DE 135, USS Jenks DE 665, USS Pillsbury DE 133 and USS Pope DE 134. 1 dead. Oblt.z.S. Lange was American war custody and kept in isolation at the U.S. navy base in Bermuda, the remaining crew of U 505 were isolated from other prisoners of war in the POW Camp Ruston located in Louisiana and kept in a restricted area in order to prevent communicating to the enemy that secret German naval codes had fallen into Allied hands. Released from captivity in 05.1946.)
