Footnote : During the second attack U-46 observed a hit on "Alderpool". There was no A/S escort with the convoy on Apr.3rd. From the report of the convoy commodore comes the information that at the time of U-46s second attack at 1:41 a.m. "Alderpool" (pos.11) and at 1:42 a.m. "Thirlby" (pos.12) and "Athenic" (pos.21) were hit. "Alderpool" was sunk by a coup de grâce from U-73/Rosenbaum.
