| Footnote : | U-26 advanced for some days through the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean, and it was reported by KTB B.d.U. of Dec.5th, 1939, that there was one ship sunk during this advance. The KTB of U-26 reports two single shots against a darkened steamer, which sank within 30 sec. in position 36°16'N / 2°13'W. For sake of consistency the nautical position was converted into the standard German grid system. - The French freighter "Loire" (4285 grt) departed Oran on Nov.12th, 1939 for Dunkirk, vanished thereafter. |
