| Footnote : | An unsuccessfull attack with a torpedo spread against convoy 27.KS on Nov.16th was reported in Serv.Hist.II, page 110. - From the attacking U-Boats (U-53, U-41, U-43, U-49) only the attack of U-41/Mugler with 4 torpedoes on Nov.16th between 11:31h and 17:45h may fit. The 2nd torpedo hit its target but was a dud. The steamer answered the attack with gunfire. - On Nov.16th U-53 was operating in grid CG 8694, when at 13:14h an aircraft attacked with 1 bomb and the boat had to dive. On Nov.18th at 16:38h U-53 attacked a steamer in a convoy with a 3-torpedo spread in naval grid CG 2193 but missed. |
