| Footnote : | U-154 observed the attacked ship sinking and asked survivors for the name of the vessel. The name "Clyde, 3200 ts, from Galveston" was probably a misunderstanding. - "Tillie Lykes" left Galveston (Texas) on Jun.13th for San Juan (Puerto Rico) and was reported missing after Jun.18th in position 19n/85w. The long time of the journey may have been a result of the extreme zig-zagging course, which Cpt. Warren Darnell ordered, as he had lost his last vessel, "Cardonia", to an U-boat attack just three months before. |
