| Footnote : | U-438 was on course west, and carried out her attack from starboard bow of the convoy. At the same time as U-176 she fired her first torpedo, heard a detonation after 1:31 min, and observed a ship sinking after 3 min. She missed "Fintra", and obviously mistook the success of U-176 for her own. The second (stern-) torpedo hit the Norwegean "Trolla" below the bridge. A third (bow-) D656torpedo missed its target and hit appearantly, but not in deed, a ship beyond. |
