| Footnote : | Tests with gnat torpedo T-4 "Falke" were made Febr./March 1943 in the North Atlantic on 6 U-Boats, each one armed with 2 of them. Problems with the torpedo tubes made that trials were stopped after shooting the first 3 torpedoes. Following KTB of B.d.U. two of them had been fired from U-221, possibly on March 7th, 1943, and one T-4 fired from U-382 on Febr.23rd, 1943. Modifications of the torpedoes allowed the use of "Falke" since July 1st, 1943. But only 5 U-boats were supplied with "Falke", which was soon replaced by T-5 "Zaunkönig". |
