| Footnote : | On 5-6 July 24 one-man-submarines ("Neger") started from Villers-sur-Mer. The operation was acclaimed, but 11 "Negers" did not return, and the success was not overwhelming. - Two minesweepers were sunk. HMS "Trollope" (ex USS DE 566), being torpedoed by three E-boats in the same night few hours before (1h28), was broken in two. The afterpart was towed to Arromanches. HMS "Trollope" was declared a constructive total loss. |
