Footnote : On 5-6 July 24 one-man-submarines ("Marder") started from Villers-sur-Mer. The operation was acclaimed, but 11 "Marders" did not return, and the success was not overwhelming. - Two minesweepers were sunk. The destroyer-escort "Trollope", which had had a fight with E-boats in the same night few hours before, was severely damaged. She was towed to port but not repaired during the war.
