Footnote : The wreck of U-322 (formerly seen as U-772) was found by divers in 2004 and identified by Dr. Axel Niestlé. Successes were credited to U-322 subsequently and by consideration of all U-boat losses between Nov 1944 and Jan 1945. Times were recorded by German Naval Intelligence Service (B-Dienst). Sinking positions of "Slemish" and "Dumfries" are at a distance of 38nm. With a time distance of 2 hrs it is impossible that a single submarine sank both vessels. British sources declare mine hits as possible in both cases. Considering the attacks of 29th December, U-322 obviously operated near the English coastline. Therefore "Slemish" has not been credited to U-322.
