| Footnote : | The MOD ("U-Boat war in the Atlantic") was claiming the sinking of "Sverre Helmersen" to U-2322 / Heckel, and the author of the study, Alfred Hessler, to U-2324 or U-2329 respectively. But only U-2329 was claiming a missing attack on April, 23rd against a 5000-t-steamer. Matthes was claiming the success to a midget, but this is not more than pure speculation. Last raid of "Seehund"-midgets against Thames-Schelde route had ocurred on April 17th, too long ago for a midget, running short of proviant and energy. |
