| Footnote : | On Jan.5th several Cebu midgets "Ko-Hyoteki" type C reported an attack against a convoy. Midget Ha-82 attacked the cruiser USS "Boise", carrying General McArthur and his staff, as they were heading for Lingayen Gulf and the invasion of Luzon. - USS "Phoenix" saw two torpedo tracks heading for USS "Boise", which successfully evaded the torpedoes. The midget surfaced and was rammed and sunk by the destroyer USS "David W. Taylor". - Some time later another midget fired two torpedoes which missed. It was lucky to escape. |
