Footnote : HMS "Goodall" (19th Escort Group) was hit on portside beneath her bridge, the magazine exploded, blowing away the forepart of the vessel and killing the commander. The wreck had to be scuttled by gunfire from HMS "Anguilla" at 01:45h on the next morning. Escorts of the 19th EG ("Loch Shin", "Anguilla", and "Cotton") reported to have sunk the U-boat, which had torpedoed "Goodall" between 19:46h and 20:17h; it turned out to be U286.
